Baremetrics Alternative: 4 Cheaper Ways to Track MRR
A good Baremetrics alternative for a small SaaS is whichever one shows your MRR, churn and trials without costing more than a few of your customers pay you. Stripe’s Billing overview already has MRR and churn charts. ChartMogul is free up to $120K ARR. Indiehacker Studio shows MRR per app for $12 a month, next to traffic and support. A spreadsheet works if you have a handful of subscribers.
Baremetrics is a capable subscription analytics tool. It is also priced for companies with revenue: its Launch plan is listed at $75 a month on the pricing page, and payment recovery and cancellation insights are add-ons at $129 a month each. For an app at $400 MRR, that is almost a fifth of the revenue.
Prices come from each vendor’s pricing page in October 2026; check them before you decide. Disclosure: we make Indiehacker Studio, one of the options below, so weigh our view with that in mind.
What does Baremetrics cost in 2026?
Baremetrics prices by annual recurring revenue (ARR):
| Baremetrics plan | ARR range | Listed price |
|---|---|---|
| Launch | $0 to $360K | $75 a month |
| Growth | $360K to $3.6M | $255 a month |
| Scale | $3.6M and up | $1,152 a month |
The FAQ on the same page quotes lower figures ($49, $189 and $749 a month), and it says yearly plans can get up to a 35% discount, so the lower figures are probably yearly prices. Launch includes subscription analytics with 28+ metrics, trial insights, email reports and one integration. Payment Recovery and Cancellation Insights cost $129 a month each on top.
Why do small SaaS founders look for a Baremetrics alternative?
Three reasons come up most:
- The price is fixed, your revenue isn’t. $75 a month is easy at $30K MRR and hard at $300.
- Analytics you won’t use yet. Segments, benchmarks and scenario planning matter once you have hundreds of customers. Early on you check four numbers: MRR, new MRR, churn and trials.
- Several apps. If you run more than one product, you want each app’s MRR side by side, not one account per app.
If you have the revenue and use the deeper reports, Baremetrics is a fine choice. Otherwise, start with one of these.
Which Baremetrics alternatives are worth trying?
| Option | Price | What you get | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stripe Billing overview | In your Stripe Dashboard | MRR, churn, trials, LTV, cohort retention | One product on Stripe Billing |
| ChartMogul | Free up to $120K ARR; Starter from $69 a month | Core SaaS metrics, filters, CRM sync on paid plans | Growing products that want a dedicated tool |
| Indiehacker Studio | Pro $12 a month, 7-day free trial | MRR, ARR, trials, churn, ARPU per app, next to analytics and support | Founders with several small apps |
| A spreadsheet | Free | Whatever you build | Fewer than 20 subscribers |
Stripe’s Billing overview
If you bill with Stripe subscriptions, open the Billing overview in your Dashboard first. Stripe’s analytics documentation lists MRR, MRR growth, active subscribers, ARPU, subscriber lifetime value, trial conversion, churn and cohort retention, plus CSV exports such as an MRR roll-forward. You can choose whether discounts are subtracted from MRR. For one product, this may be all you need.
ChartMogul
ChartMogul’s Free plan covers core SaaS metrics up to $120K ARR. Paid plans start at $69 a month (Starter) and add team members, CRM sync and more data sources. It is the closest like-for-like replacement for Baremetrics in this list.
Indiehacker Studio
Indiehacker Studio is not a dedicated revenue tool. It is one script for analytics, a support chat with feedback and bug reports, and Stripe revenue, built for founders who run several small apps.
Connect Stripe per project with a read-only restricted key. You see MRR, ARR, active subscriptions, ARPU, trials (running, converted, expired), customer and revenue churn, new MRR, one-time sales, and the MRR your running trials would add if they convert. Every project has its own revenue page, and the overview sums them all. The same dashboard shows each app’s traffic and open conversations, so a churn spike and a wave of bug reports end up on one screen.
The limits are real: Stripe only, numbers shown in USD, a sync every hour (or on “Sync now”) instead of live webhooks, and history that starts with a 90-day backfill on the first sync. There are no cohorts, forecasts or payment recovery. Revenue is on Pro: $12 a month or $120 a year, up to 50 projects, with a 7-day free trial.
A spreadsheet
With a few subscribers, export them from Stripe and compute MRR yourself. Our guide on how to calculate MRR from Stripe covers yearly plans, discounts, trials and past-due invoices, and the churn rate formula post covers churn.
How do you pick the right one?
- One product on Stripe Billing, early stage: start with Stripe’s Billing overview.
- One product, growing, want a dedicated tool for free: ChartMogul Free.
- Several apps, and you also want traffic and support in one place: Indiehacker Studio.
- You need payment recovery, forecasting or benchmarks: stay on, or move up to, Baremetrics or a paid ChartMogul plan.
Not sure which numbers to watch at all? SaaS metrics: the 10 numbers a small SaaS should track is the short list.
How do you switch from Baremetrics?
- Export your history. Download the metrics you care about before you cancel. A new tool rebuilds history from Stripe, but how far back depends on the tool.
- Connect the new tool with the least access it needs. In Indiehacker Studio that is a Stripe restricted key with Read on Customers, Subscriptions, Invoices, Charges, Prices and Products.
- Compare one month side by side. Tools define MRR slightly differently (trials, discounts, past due). Check the definitions before you trust a gap.
- Cancel add-ons first, then the plan.

Next step: try it on your apps
If you run several apps and want each one’s MRR next to its traffic and support inbox, start free with Indiehacker Studio, add the script to one app, and connect Stripe during the 7-day Pro trial (then $12 a month, cancel any time from your account). See pricing for the full plan.
