Fathom Analytics Alternative: 4 Options for Indie Apps
Which Fathom Analytics alternative fits depends on why you are leaving. If you want a cheaper start, Plausible ($9 a month) and Umami (free Hobby plan) cost less. Cloudflare Web Analytics costs nothing, if fewer features are fine. If you want analytics plus a support chat, feedback, bug reports and Stripe MRR from the same script, Indiehacker Studio does that for $12 a month across up to 50 sites.
Fathom is cookieless, it covers 50 sites on its first plan, and it includes events. This post is for the moment you notice that the first plan starts at $15 a month, that your traffic doesn’t need 100,000 pageviews yet, or that analytics is only one of the five tabs you open every morning.
Prices below come from each vendor’s pricing page in October 2026; check them before you switch. Disclosure: we make Indiehacker Studio, one of the options, so weigh our view with that in mind.
What does Fathom Analytics cost in 2026?
Fathom has no free plan. Every plan has the same features and a 7-day free trial; the price rises with pageviews:
| Fathom plan | Monthly pageviews | Sites |
|---|---|---|
| $15 a month | 100,000 | 50 |
| $25 a month | 200,000 | 50 |
| $45 a month | 500,000 | 50 |
| $60 a month | 1,000,000 | 50 |
Extra sites come in packs of 50 for $10 a month, and yearly billing gives 2 months free. Custom events count toward the pageview allowance.
Why do founders look for a Fathom alternative?
Often you pay $15 a month for analytics, a separate tool for a chat widget, something else for feedback, and you still open Stripe at midnight to see whether anyone paid. Each of your apps has its own setup in each tool.
Three reasons come up most:
- No free plan. A side project with 300 visitors a month still costs $15 after the trial.
- Analytics only. Fathom does analytics well and stops there. Support, feedback and revenue live elsewhere.
- Self-hosting. Fathom is hosted only. Some founders would rather run analytics on their own server.
If none of those apply, stay on Fathom. If one does, here are the alternatives.
Which Fathom Analytics alternatives are worth trying?
| Tool | Free option | Cheapest paid plan | Sites on that plan | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Indiehacker Studio | 1 site, 10,000 pageviews a month | $12 a month, 1,000,000 pageviews | 50 | Analytics plus chat, feedback, bug reports and MRR |
| Plausible | 30-day trial | $9 a month, 10,000 pageviews | 1 | One clean dashboard for one site |
| Umami | Hobby: 100,000 events, 1 site | $20 a month (Pro), 1,000,000 events | 20 | Developers who may self-host later |
| Cloudflare Web Analytics | Free | None needed | Any on Cloudflare | Free basic traffic numbers |
Indiehacker Studio
Indiehacker Studio is one script tag on every app you run, with one dashboard for traffic, open conversations and MRR per project.
The analytics are cookieless: no cookies, and IP addresses are never written to the database. You get live visitors, pageviews, unique visitors, top pages, referrers and UTM campaigns, countries, devices and browsers, plus custom events with ihs.track("signup"). Single-page apps are tracked on every route change.
The same script adds a chat bubble with feedback and bug report tabs, and all messages from all your projects land in one inbox. On Pro, connect Stripe per project with a read-only restricted key and see MRR, ARR, trials and churn next to the traffic.
Pricing: Free covers 1 project and 10,000 pageviews a month. Pro is $12 a month or $120 a year, with 50 projects and 1,000,000 pageviews, and a 7-day free trial.
Limits: the analytics stick to the basics (no funnels), there is no self-hosting, and the product is new. If analytics is the only thing you need, Fathom or Plausible may suit you better.
Plausible
A clean single-page dashboard and open source code. The Starter plan is $9 a month for 10,000 pageviews on one site, with a 30-day trial and no card. For several sites you need a higher plan. You can also run Plausible Community Edition on your own server.
Umami
The Hobby plan is free for 100,000 events a month on 1 site, with 6 months of data. Pro is $20 a month for 1,000,000 events and up to 20 sites. Every pageview counts as an event. Umami is open source, so you can self-host it later for free.
Cloudflare Web Analytics
Free and cookieless. It shows basic traffic numbers and works best when your site already runs through Cloudflare. Our free website analytics guide covers its limits next to GoatCounter and Matomo.
How do you choose the right Fathom alternative?
Pick by the job, not by the feature list:
- One site, analytics only, smallest bill: Plausible Starter or Umami Hobby.
- Free, and basic numbers are enough: Cloudflare Web Analytics.
- Self-hosting: Umami or Plausible Community Edition.
- Several apps, and you also answer users and watch MRR: Indiehacker Studio.
For a wider view, our Google Analytics alternative comparison covers six tools, including Fathom itself.
How do you switch from Fathom without losing data?
- Export first. Download your Fathom data before you cancel, so last year’s numbers stay with you.
- Run both for a week. Add the new script next to Fathom’s and compare pageviews. Cookieless tools count visitors in different ways, so small gaps are normal. What is cookieless tracking explains why.
- Move your events. Map each Fathom event to the new tool. In Indiehacker Studio that is one
ihs.track("event-name")call per event. - Remove Fathom’s script and cancel once the new numbers look right.
FAQ
Is there a free Fathom Analytics alternative?
Yes. Cloudflare Web Analytics is free, Umami’s Hobby plan is free for 100,000 events a month on 1 site, and Indiehacker Studio’s Free plan covers 1 site and 10,000 pageviews a month.
Is Fathom Analytics GDPR compliant without a cookie banner?
Fathom is cookieless, as are Plausible, Umami, Cloudflare and Indiehacker Studio. Cookieless analytics usually remove the need for an analytics cookie banner, but your own legal setup decides what your site needs. See cookieless analytics without a cookie banner.
What is cheaper than Fathom for many sites?

Can I self-host a Fathom alternative?
Yes: Umami and Plausible Community Edition can run on your own server. Indiehacker Studio and Fathom are hosted only.
Next step: try it on one app first
Setup is one line: <script src="https://indiehacker.studio/s.js" defer></script>. Start free with Indiehacker Studio on one app, see your first visitor in a couple of minutes, and decide during the 7-day Pro trial (then $12 a month, cancel any time from your account) whether it should cover the rest.
