Clicky Analytics Review: When to Pick an Alternative

Nemo · · 5 min read

Clicky analytics is a hosted, real-time web analytics tool that logs every visitor and pageview as it happens, with no tracking cookies. It is free for one website up to 3,000 pageviews a day, and paid plans start at $9.99 a month for 10 websites. Our verdict: Clicky is worth it if you want live visitor logs, heatmaps and uptime alerts in one place. Pick an alternative if you want monthly instead of daily limits, a simpler dashboard, or support chat and Stripe revenue next to your traffic.

This review covers what Clicky does well, its limits as listed on its pricing page in October 2026, and the alternatives worth a look. Disclosure: we make Indiehacker Studio, one of the alternatives below, so weigh our view with that in mind.

What is Clicky analytics?

Clicky is a hosted analytics service run by Roxr Software. You add a script, and the dashboard shows live visitors, pages, referrers, countries and devices. Its signature is the visitor log: you can open a single visit and see each page that person viewed, in order, as it happens.

Clicky’s homepage says it collects no personal data, uses no tracking cookies and needs no cookie banner. The company’s blog explains the trade-off it made when it went cookie-free by default: unique and returning visitor counts are less precise without cookies.

What does Clicky do well?

  • Real-time visitor logs. Every visitor, pageview and JavaScript event, anonymized by default. Great for the day of a launch.
  • Heatmaps. Page-level and visitor-level, filterable by segment (Pro Plus and above).
  • Uptime monitoring. Alerts when your site goes down, checked from several locations (Pro Plus and above).
  • Bot filtering. Clicky advertises aggressive bot detection and referrer spam filtering.
  • Many sites on one plan. Pro covers 10 websites, Pro Platinum 30.

How much does Clicky cost?

Plan Monthly Yearly Websites Daily pageviews Heatmaps and uptime History
Free $0 $0 1 3,000 No 30 days
Pro $9.99 $79.99 10 30,000 No Indefinite
Pro Plus $14.99 $119.99 10 30,000 Yes Indefinite
Pro Platinum $19.99 $159.99 30 100,000 Yes Indefinite

Clicky notes that individual visitor and action data is guaranteed for 6 months on paid plans. New accounts get a 21-day premium trial covering 3 websites. Check clicky.com for current prices.

Note the unit: Clicky caps pageviews per day, not per month. A launch day that brings 5,000 pageviews goes over the free plan even if the rest of the month is quiet.

Where does Clicky fall short for indie founders?

Clicky is an analytics tool and does that job well. The gaps show up when you look at everything a small product needs.

  1. Analytics only. Talking to users happens somewhere else: a chat widget, a feedback board, a bug tracker. That is two or three more scripts and bills. Our live chat software roundup shows how fast those add up.
  2. No revenue view. Traffic without MRR tells half the story. You still open Stripe to see if the visitors paid. See how to calculate MRR from Stripe.
  3. Daily caps. The free plan’s 3,000 pageviews a day is generous for a quiet site and tight for a launch spike.
  4. Dashboard style. The interface is dense. Some founders love the detail; others want one screen with five numbers.

What are the best Clicky alternatives?

It depends on which gap bothers you.

  • You want the simplest possible dashboard: Plausible ($9 a month for 10,000 pageviews) or Fathom ($15 a month for 100,000 pageviews across sites).
  • You want to self-host: Umami or Matomo On-Premise, both free if you run the server. See Matomo vs Google Analytics.
  • You want a free hosted plan with monthly limits: Umami Cloud Hobby (100,000 events a month, one site) or Indiehacker Studio Free (10,000 pageviews a month, one project).
  • You want analytics, support and revenue in one script: Indiehacker Studio.

How does Indiehacker Studio compare to Clicky?

Indiehacker Studio covers less analytics depth than Clicky: no heatmaps, no uptime monitoring. What it adds is everything around the traffic:

  • Cookieless analytics: live visitors, pages, referrers, UTM campaigns, countries, devices and custom events, with no cookies and no IP stored.
  • A chat bubble: support chat, feedback and bug reports (screenshots and recordings on Pro), in one inbox for all your apps. Read add live chat to a SaaS with one script.
  • Stripe revenue: MRR, trials and churn per project from a restricted key.

Pricing is per month, not per day: Free covers 1 project and 10,000 pageviews a month. Pro is $12 a month or $120 a year for up to 50 projects and 1,000,000 pageviews, with a 14-day trial.

If heatmaps and per-visit logs are what you open every morning, stay with Clicky. If you open Clicky, then Stripe, then your support inbox, one script can replace the three tabs.
